The Mango Uno 10se Guitar Amplifier has been described as a mini power station. Don’t let the 10 watt rating fool you into thinking that this amp is merely a practice amplifier. From the outset it has been designed to provide masses of headroom, through careful component selection and over-engineering. The power and output transformers would not be out of place in a 20 watt amplifier and this, combined with the selected operating voltages and the use of a big bottle KT66, results in a amplifier that shouts dynamics, authority and musicality.
It is a dual channel amplifier where each channel has been carefully voiced for tone and gain.
The normal channel uses in standard form a 5751 dual triode, providing a clean channel with relatively late breakup. But turn it above 8 on the scale and it roars. The boost channel is an EF86 based pentode preamp characterised with a subtly different tone and earlier breakup, so increasing flexibility. A standard ECC83 can be used in the normal channel to increase gain and give an earlier grittier breakup if desired. The amp cleans up very nicely as well by controlling the volume from your guitar.
The simplicity of the amp is a crucial aspect to the astounding tone and dynamics of the Mango Uno 10se. The simple one-knob tone control is all you need, subtly boosting either bass or treble depending on which way it is turned. With so little in the signal chain the amp will project all the subtle nuances, touch sensitivity and dynamics, provided your guitar technique is good - there is no wall of fuzz to hide behind here. The Mango Uno 10se is for the guitarist who cares about their tone and who simply wants to plug in and play. In order to maximize versatility the Mango Uno 10se is available only in head form which will interface with any single cabinet of 4 or 8 ohms impedence, or any pair of cabinets of 8 or 16 ohms impedence. It is recommended that the Mango Duo 18 is used with the Mango 112C cabinet shown, which uses 1x12 Celestion G12H30 Anniversary speaker or a Jensen P12N Bell speaker as a brighter, clearer though more expensive option. The cabinet is specifically designed to bring out the best features and tones of the amplifier. However the Mango Uno 10se would not be intimidated when used with a pair of 4x12 cabinets. The Mango Uno 10se will sound considerably louder than you would think and is the perfect tool for live performance at small venues, practice or recording purposes. Any where you want perfect tone at reasonable levels.
It is possible to customise the amplifier and cabinet both tonally and visually to your preferred taste.
The normal channel and phase inverter can utilise the usual ECC83 valve for medium gain use or an 5751 for a cleaner tone with later breakup. Many internal components can be tweaked to create an individual tone to your own personal requirements.
Several Tolex covering colours are available to chose from as well as grille cloth patterns, fittings and knobs, to personalise the appearance of your amplifier. Piping in white or gold can be used if required.
